City of West Bend Revaluation/2018

The City of West Bend Assessor's office will be mailing the 2018 revaluation notices on July 27th.  The average increase in value is approximately 12%. Certain areas of the city may experience more or less than the average increase in value. An increase in the assessment does not by itself mean a tax increase.  Open Book will begin Monday, July 30th through Monday, August 20th. Office hours are from 8am-4:30pm. The 2018 Board of Review will be held on Tuesday, August 28th at 10am in City Hall. Please refer to the Detailed Property Assessment Data below, and the back of the notice for further information.

Revaluation Notice

Because of the changing market, the city will have a market update revaluation for 2018. The last city-wide revaluation was completed in 2011. The 2018 revaluation will not require an interior inspection of all properties. The Assessors will be using the information collected from the previous city wide walk through completed in 2016. Notices are to be sent out during the month of July 2018.  During a non-revaluation year the Assessor's office accounts for assessment changes due to new construction, land splits, combinations, remodeling, and permit related activity.  See the following link Click here to verify your Detailed Property Assessment Data.

Purpose of Revaluations

A revaluation is the process of revaluing all taxable real and personal property in a municipality for the purpose of creating equitable assessments at market value.  The State of Wisconsin requires assessments to be within 10% of full value (market value) at least once in a four year period.  The primary reasons for revaluation include.

  • Bringing current assessments within statutory guidelines
  • Eliminating inequities that may exist in the assessments of property

Uniformity, equity and fairness are the core reasons for conducting revaluations.
