West Bend's workforce is comprised of over 17,000 individuals and draws from many neighboring communities and counties. Over 91% of the workforce holds a high school diploma or higher. The educational needs of the community are served by the West Bend School District, Moraine Park Technical College and the University of Wisconsin- Washington County. These institutions work closely with the business community to create and adapt programs addressing training needs of employers.
The West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors created the Education Committee to help address education and labor issues. The purpose of the committee is to advise and make recommendations to the Board of Directors with respect to education and student preparation for the workforce; and report quarterly to the Board on matters relating to the work-based learning opportunities, local need, support of career development, West Bend School District Education Advisory Team participation, and regional workforce support. The committee is comprised of representatives from the West Bend Area Chamber of Commerce, the West Bend School District, and local businesses of various types and sizes.
