Can I burn in the City?

Are all fireworks illegal in the City?

Only sparklers on a wire or stick that is no more than 3 feet long are allowed. All others types of fireworks are not allowed to be used!

Can I have a grill on a 2nd floor balcony?

Are smoke detectors required?

Yes, anyplace there are sleeping quarters, smoke detectors are required. For more information, contact the West Bend Fire Dept. Prevention Bureau at (262 ) 335 - 5055.

Are carbon monoxide detectors required?

The City of West Bend adopts the WI state code which requires battery operated carbon monoxide alarms for homes built prior to Feb 1, 2011. Homes that were built after Feb. 1, 2011 are required to be hard-wired Carbon Monoxide alarms that are directly connected to the home electrical source. Hard-wired alarms are also required to have a back-up battery. All Carbon Monoxide alarm devices must be approved by Underwriters Laboratories. For more information, contact the West Bend Fire Dept. Are fire extinguishers required (amount & what size)?

For residential they are not required, but certainly are recommended. For Business or Commercial contact the West Bend Fire Dept. Prevention Bureau for the requirements at (262) 335 - 5055.

I have an underground fuel oil storage tank, do I have to remove it or not?

If you are currently using your fuel oil storage tank, you do not have to remove it. If your fuel oil storage tank is not in use, contact the West Bend Fire Dept. Prevention Bureau for requirements at (262) 335 -5055.
