City-Wide Brush Collection Changes for 2018

Date: April 4, 2018

City-Wide Brush Collection Changes for 2018

Starting in the spring of 2018, Brush will be collected with a separate truck on the SAME DAY as your garbage collection day instead of on a Friday.  Crews will be collecting brush two weeks out of each month beginning the week of April 9-12, and continue through the end of October.  The 2018 Refuse & Recycling Collection Calendar was mailed to each resident in December of 2017 and may also be found on the City of West Bend Website under Departments/Public Works.  The changes in brush collection are designed to reduce the amount of commercial vehicles that were required for collection in the past.

Brush should be placed on the terrace with branches no longer than 4 feet and no wider than 6 inches in diameter.  Each residential property is limited to one brush pile no larger than 4’ x 4’ x 4’ and should be placed curbside by 6 a.m. the day of your garbage collection.  Brush placed curbside after the crews have already collected brush on your street will not be collected until the next scheduled brush collection week.

Residents with excess brush have the option to use the City’s Drop-Off yard located at 251 Municipal Dr.  To utilize the yard, City of West Bend residents and residential property owners are required to have a current permit sticker attached to their vehicle to enter the drop-off yard.  Permit stickers must be renewed annually and are available for purchase at the Department of Public Works Office only from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mon-Fri.  Stickers cost $20 and are valid from January 1 through December 31, 2018.  At the time of purchase, two (2) forms are required:  current Vehicle Registration for each vehicle being registered and Driver’s License.

Residents are reminded that all leaves, lawn rakings, and grass clippings should be bagged and brought to the City Drop-Off Yard.  These items are not to be placed curbside or into the street gutter area.  By City Ordinance, refuse carts containing organic waste will not be collected.

The Public Works Office and Drop-off Yard will be open Saturday, April 7, 14, 21, and 28, 2018, from 8:00 a.m.—1:30 p.m. for the convenience of purchasing yard stickers and refuse carts.
