18th Avenue Road Closure for Reconstruction & Temporary Traffic Control Change at Silverbrook Drive & Decorah Road
|Date:||April 23, 2018|
The 18th Avenue reconstruction project between Decorah Road to Vogt Drive, is scheduled to start Thursday, April 26, 2018, weather permitting. 18th Avenue between Decorah Road and Vogt Drive will be closed to through traffic during the entire life of the project, with closure of the Decorah Road and Vogt Drive intersections, as mandated by the work schedule.
The work will include grading, storm sewer, curb and gutter, sidewalk, new pavement; and is scheduled to be completed by mid-October.
The general contractor for this project is Zignego Company, Inc., of Waukesha, Wisconsin, under contract with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. There will also be a number of subcontractors working at various times during the project.
During this reconstruction, there will be one substantial change implemented temporarily outside the project area: the intersection of Silverbrook Drive and Decorah Road will be temporarily changed from a two-way stop (currently stop signs on Silverbrook Drive only) to an all-way stop (with stop signs on all legs of the intersection). This measure is to help traffic flow with the anticipated increased volume on Silverbrook Drive during the reconstruction of 18th Avenue.
Motorists are reminded to abide by all traffic control signs and devices, as well as be aware of ongoing construction activities. Alternate routes should be planned to avoid construction whenever possible.
