Downtown Riverwalk Construction to Begin

The west sidewalk along Veterans Avenue, from East Washington Street/STH 33 to Water Street, will be closed to
pedestrian through traffic beginning Thursday, May 17, 2018. Portions of the southbound traffic lane may also be
intermittently closed to allow the City of West Bend to remove trees and the existing brick paver walkway. This
work is being completed in anticipation of the Downtown Riverwalk project. Access across the North and South
Pedestrian bridges will remain open throughout this portion of the project.
The City of West Bend has contracted with Janke General Contractors to complete the Downtown Riverwalk project
and those work efforts are scheduled to begin mid-June. Prior to commencement of any contracted work, additional
notification will be distributed with updated project details and schedule.
The west sidewalk along Veterans Avenue is anticipated to be closed through the duration of the Citys’ and
Contractors’ work. All work efforts are anticipated to be completed by November 2, 2018 for construction of the
Pedestrians and bicyclists are reminded to abide by all traffic control signs and devices as well as be aware of
ongoing construction activities. Alternate routes should be planned to avoid construction whenever possible.
