During the 19th century, nearly six million Germans left their homes for other countries; most would never see Germany again. Adler will discuss the reasons for their emigration and share stories of their emigration told through archival records such as passenger lists, census data, family letters, church records, and family trees.

Astrid Adler is from the village of Tiefenort in Germany. She holds two degrees in business and is self-employed as an accountant and business consultant. For the past ten years she has specialized in genealogy, especially emigration to America during the 19th century from the Grand Duchy Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach region.
