The City of West Bend is accepting applications for immediate openings and to establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. Candidates must be at least 20 years of age, possess or be able to obtain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, have excellent character, a two-year degree or 60 college credits, completion of the State of Wisconsin Basic Law Enforcement Course, and must be able to perform the essential functions of a law enforcement officer. Candidates who are presently enrolled in college-level courses that will give them a total of 60 college credits or are enrolled in the State of Wisconsin Basic Law Enforcement Course are eligible to apply. Candidates must successfully complete their 60 college credits and certification classes before being hired. The Police Department will reimburse Recruit Academy expenses for those hired, if currently enrolled in a Police Recruit Academy or scheduled to attend a 2019 course. Salary range for 2019 is $58,471 - $71,109 and based on the current contract. An increase in starting salary and vacation time is available to current full-time law enforcement officers who have completed their probationary period at their agency. Bilingual candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
Eligible candidates will take a written test and a physical agility test on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Additional selection criteria will include scenario exercises, oral interview, background check, psychological and medical exams, and a drug screen.
