The City of West Bend is accepting applications for a Public Works Building Maintenance Department/Electrician. The successful candidate must be able to work under general supervision, perform duties related to the repair and maintenance of buildings, traffic signals and street lighting including on-call duties. Daily activities will require knowledge of electrical, painting, plumbing, and other mechanical systems. Will be called upon to perform general custodial duties, and other physical tasks. Experience with a wide variety of tools and equipment required. Journeyman/Master Electrician preferred but not required. Additional duties will include snow plowing, as necessary. Must have a valid WI driver’s license. Starting salary $45,500/year - $52,000/year, excellent fringe benefit package, Open until filled. An application is required.

The City of West Bend has an opening for a full-time Building Inspection/Maintenance Superintendent. This position manages the day-to-day operations of the Building Inspection/Maintenance divisions. Supervises and instructs office staff, field inspectors, maintenance technicians and custodians, delegates’ authority and responsibility and prepares and reviews performance evaluations. Oversees, plans and coordinates inspections, performs building inspections, determines compliance, issues orders to correct violations, performs soil erosion enforcement duties, handles nuisance and health complaints and answers questions concerning inspection, code and zoning. Makes public presentations from time-to-time. Prepares annual budget and 5-year capital projects plan.
Must have an Associate or Technical School Degree and six to nine years’ experience with completion of a building trade’s apprenticeship or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge skills and abilities. Must be certified as a UDC inspector in construction, electrical, plumbing and HVAC and have a State of Wisconsin Master or Journeyman Plumber’s License. Preferred qualifications include certification as a State of Wisconsin Commercial Building Inspector and/or Commercial Plumbing Inspector. Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License is required. Ability to operate a variety of equipment and tools, familiarity with computer applications and the ability to conduct on-site building inspections under construction conditions. Candidates will need to pass a background check, physical and drug screening. The City of West Bend offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package, including health and life insurance. Duties may include: field preparation, general grounds maintenance, tree, shrub and landscape bed maintenance, equipment and playground maintenance.
