The City of West Bend is taking applications for a full-time Economic Development Manager. This position performs professional economic development activities for the city in order to promote business development, job creation and retention in the City of West Bend. Duties include: coordinating activities relating to economic development; provide support to Redevelopment Authority; implement and maintain workforce development strategies to address both short and long term needs of key stakeholders; providing information and assistance to community organizations; serves as the Downtown Business Improvement District Executive Director; identifying industry clusters for business development and targeted marketing; manage social media tools; update city website; select and award Business of the Month and Business of the Year awards; write press releases; complete and sustain aggressive business retention meetings with employers; assist with business attraction, marketing, incentive preparation and management of three loan funds; assist with Tax Incremental District administration; research, prepare, submit, administer and follow grant opportunities and reporting requirements in consultation with the city administrator and track and submit appropriate reports to state, federal or other agencies as required.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economic Development, Marketing or related field and three years general economic development experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The starting salary is $45,500 - $47,800 (DOQ), with benefits. Applications will be accepted until the needs of the department are met. The City of West Bend is accepting applications for immediate openings and to establish an eligibility list for the position of Police Officer. Candidates must be at least 20 years of age, possess or be able to obtain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license, have excellent character, a two-year degree or 60 college credits, completion of the State of Wisconsin Basic Law Enforcement Course, and must be able to perform the essential functions of a law enforcement officer. Candidates who are presently enrolled in college-level courses that will give them a total of 60 college credits or are enrolled in the State of Wisconsin Basic Law Enforcement Course are eligible to apply. Candidates must successfully complete their 60 college credits and certification classes before being hired. The Police Department will reimburse Recruit Academy expenses for those hired, if currently enrolled in a Police Recruit Academy or scheduled to attend a January 2018 course. Bilingual candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
Eligible candidates will take a written test and a physical agility test on Saturday, September 9, 2017. Additional selection criteria will include assessment exercises, oral interview, background check, psychological and medical exams, and a drug screen.

The City of West Bend is accepting applications for a Social Media Specialist, approximately 20 hrs/wk. This position works under the direct supervision of Community TV. Duties include an assessment and recommendation of social media platforms, administering of all social media, establishing and maintaining a social media calendar, tracking media coverage or PR metrics (e.g. web analytics), creating ways to streamline communication and plan execution, and general administrative and clerical duties. High School diploma or GED required. Experience with social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Hootsuite. Have basic understanding of keyword strategies in headlines and content, working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, knowledge of ad placement and advertising, creativity in planning and execution of social media platforms. Must have a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and be able to pass a background check and drug screening. This position is eligible for prorated benefits including vacation and holiday.
