Parks & Recreation

The West Bend Park, Recreation and Forestry Department provides the amenities, programs and services that make the city a great place to live, work and play.

The Park Division with its 18 developed parks located throughout the city provides playgrounds for playing, pavilions for picnicking, ponds for fishing, ice for skating, and paths for jogging. The backbone of West Bend Parks is our Riverwalk, which helps provide the "sense of place" for many residents.

The Recreation Division offers endless leisure opportunities for swimming, fitness, sports, education, outdoor adventure, and Special Olympics.  Whether you are in pre-school or old-school there are plenty of activities for you.

The Forestry Division is dedicated to improving the quality of life for the City by enhancing and maintaining the surrounding environment. We plant and maintain the trees that make city streets and parks come alive with colors in the spring and fall and provide shade in summer.

The Lac Lawrann Conservancy is a natural area managed and maintained for nature study and passive outdoor recreation activities. The Conservancy serves as a refuge for plants, animals, and birds; presents several examples of glacial landforms to observe and offers a self-guided trail system.

Achieving great parks and quality services is a challenge that we must strive as the city grows and continue to be a quality place to live. We welcome the community to be our partner by being involved and helping us by participating in programs, volunteering, instructing a program or serving on our Park and Recreation Commission. The benefits of parks and recreation are endless and we heartily encourage you to get involved. We'll show you how much fun you can have Playing for Life!
