The mission of the assessor’s office is to list and value all taxable property within the City of West Bend in accordance with Chapter 70 of the Wisconsin Statutes.
The assessor’s office discovers, lists, and values all real and personal property located within the corporate limits of the City of West Bend. It is our responsibility to provide uniform property values so that the burden of taxes is distributed as fairly and equitably as possible under current law. It is our job to help educate the public about the statutes and perform our work in a courteous, professional manner.
The Assessor does not: Calculate the taxes, collect the taxes, choose the tax rate, or set policy for the Board of Review. The Assessor is concerned with value, not taxes. The taxes you pay are proportionate to the value of your property compared to the total value of the taxing district in which your property is located.
