City of West Bend Employee Benefits 2020
(Benefits may differ for employees covered by a labor contract)

Human Resources is responsible for administering benefits for all City employees. Benefits may be changed by action of the City Council or through labor negotiations, and currently if you meet certain qualifications include:

Holidays: 10 days per year including New Year's Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, The Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.  

Sick Leave: 4 hrs. per full month of employment

Vacation:

1 Year 1 week
2 years 2 weeks
6 years 3 weeks
15 years 4 weeks




Retirement: 
Employees who work more than 1200 hours per year who are expected to be employed for at least one year from the date of hire are automatically enrolled in the Wisconsin Retirement Fund (WRS). Employee pays amount mandated by law (2020– 6.75%).

NOTE: Exception if employee was previously employed at WRS participating employer.

Health Insurance and Prescription Drugs: 

Comprehensive Major Medical effective 1st day of month following 30 days of employment. UMR will provide medical coverage.  Employees are eligible to participate if they work 30 hrs. or more per week. 

Premiums for 2020:  Traditional HRA Plan  for Full Time Employees

Deductible $2,500 single/$5,000 family

Prescription Drugs:  RxBenefits providing prescription coverage through Express Scripts 

Maintenance drugs are required thru mail order.

Voluntary Dental: The employee can choose to enroll and pay for dental insurance thru Delta Dental effective 1st of the month following 30 days. Employees are eligible to participate if they work 30 hrs. or more per week.  Open enrollment is in November.

The Employee Assistance Program through Aurora is a confidential voluntary program that provides easy access to a professional who can offer employees and their families support and direction with personal or job-related issues.

In order to qualify for benefits under the health plan for drug/alcohol, and mental health issues, you must be referred by the EAP.

Life Insurance: 
Basic and additional coverage effective the 1st of the month following six (6) months in the Wisconsin. Retirement System. Each unit of coverage is in the amount of the employee’s annual salary rounded to the next higher $1,000. The City pays for two units, one basic and one additional unit (2 times prior year’s earnings).   Additional life insurance is available at employee cost.
Employee can purchase Spouse/Dependent-
One unit @ $1.75/month coverage = $10,000/Spouse/$5000 Dependent Child 
Two units @ $3.50/month coverage = $20,000/Spouse/$10,000 Dependent Child 


FSA-125 Flexible Benefit Plan: 
Employees may elect to pay certain qualifying expenses (medical or dependent care) through the Flexible Benefit Plan. These expenses are exempt from State and Federal income taxes and include: Insurance premiums (medical/dental), dependent care, out-of-pocket expenses such as medical, dental, vision, etc. Employees are eligible to participate if they work 30 hrs. or more per week.  Open enrollment is in November for the following year.

Deferred Compensation:
Employees may elect to defer part of their income to IRS limits into a retirement plan. This deferred income is exempt from State and Federal income taxes until it is withdrawn at retirement or upon termination of employment. To check out more information, use links below.
