We consider brush as any type of woody material that could be ground into wood mulch. Brush includes limbs, branches, sticks, twigs, and some types of shrub trimmings. Trimmings that are comprised mostly of leafy material would be considered as "organics" rather than brush. Do not mix brush and organics.
Curbside Collection of Brush
The Department of Public Works will pick up brush throughout the City on the SAME DAY as your garbage collection day, twice per month, from April to October. Please see the 2020 Refuse and Recycling calendar below for Brush Collection Dates. Brush should be piled on the terrace the night before.
Place branches between the sidewalk and curb with the cut end facing the curb. Branches should be no longer than 4 feet, and no wider than 6 inches in diameter. Properties are limited to one brush pile with dimensions no larger than 4' x 4' x 4' per collection day.
Remove all wire and nails. Do not include any stumps or root balls. Materials cleared from lots or undeveloped property WILL NOT be collected but can be brought to the City Drop-Off Yard at 251 Municipal Drive with a current City Drop-Off Yard Sticker.
During the non-collection months, brush can be brought to the City Drop-Off Yard with a current City Drop-Off Yard Sticker.
Brush Collection Dates:
Brush collection for 2020 will begin the week of April 6th. The last collection will be the week of October 19, 2020. The downloadable calendar below include changes to refuse and recycling as well as collection dates for Christmas trees, brush, and leaves.
Wood grindings from the brush collection are available FREE to both residents and nonresidents and does not require a City Drop-Off Yard Sticker. Call the Public Works information line at 262-335-5060 for availability. All wood grindings must be tarped before leaving the Yard. We reserve the right to limit quantities.
