Applications are being accepted to establish a Firefighter eligibility list. At time of application, applicant must be 18 years of age and be a certified WI Firefighter I. At time of hire must possess a WI EMT - Paramedic license. Applicant must have Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) certificate and possess a valid WI driver’s license, prior to the Police & Fire Commission interview. The CPAT certificate is acceptable if dated within one year at time of Commission interview. Applicant must be a non-smoker, speak fluent English and be a U.S. citizen. West Bend Fire Department
The West Bend Fire Department is a highly skilled and dedicated organization of 44 men and women providing emergency medical, fire, rescue, and prevention services. Our coverage area includes the City of West Bend, and portions of the Town of West Bend and the Town of Barton. This is an area of roughly 40 square miles and a population of over 40,000 residents.

During 2019, the West Bend Fire Department answered almost 4,300 calls for service with the vast majority being EMS. Realizing the increasing importance of delivering the highest quality Medical Services, the West Bend Fire Department operates four Advanced Life Support/Paramedic Units per day. ~~

Our three fire stations are strategically located throughout the city. Each station is staffed with a minimum of three cross staffed licensed paramedic/fire personnel (Lieutenant, MPO, FF) and a Battalion Chief at station #1.

West Bend Firefighters are represented by Local 2025 of the IAFF and are provided a generous compensation including: vacation time, sick time, paid holidays, uniforms, longevity, health insurance, Wisconsin Retirement System.

Community Background
ï‚£ Be at least 18 years old at time of submitting application.
ï‚£ Be a U.S. Citizen.
ï‚£ Be a high school graduate or equivalent.
ï‚£ Possess a valid Driver’s License.
ï‚£ Hold a valid WI Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Paramedic license or National       Registry Certification.
ï‚£ Be a certified Firefighter I.
ï‚£ Possess a CPAT certification prior to Police & Fire Commission interview. (CPAT
     must be within one year at time of Commission interview.)
ï‚£ Be a non-user of tobacco or tobacco products for at least (6) six months immediately         preceding application and continue being a non-user during your firefighting career.

ï‚£ Application forms must be filled in completely.
ï‚£ Copy of DD214 (undeleted copy) if applicable.
ï‚£ Notification of written exam will be sent.
ï‚£ If assistance is needed in taking written exam, make sure you specify this.

The OMISSION of any forms required may invalidate your application.
The West Bend Fire Department has a continuous application period. Applications will remain valid for two years. Candidates will be notified when they are set to expire on the application list.
