Upcoming City of West Bend Common Council and Plan Commission Meetings to Take Place in Virtual Environment

West Bend, Wis. (April 4, 2020): In response to the Safer at Home Emergency Order, which limits group gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the City of West Bend Common Council will meet in a virtual format starting on Monday, April 6 at 6:25 p.m. Aldermen will participate fully from their own homes. Interim Mayor Hoogester will be the only councilman present at City Hall Council Chambers. In addition to upcoming Common Council meetings, the Plan Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 8 at 6 p.m. will take place in a virtual environment as well.

“This is the first time in history that a West Bend Common Council meeting will be conducted virtually,” said City Administrator Jay Shambeau. “We’ve explored several options to ensure each meeting is compliant with the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office of Open Government guidance on the Open Meetings Law.”

In lieu of attending the meetings in person at City Hall, the public will be able to watch and monitor from the safety of their own homes. Community Television will broadcast each meeting live online at http://westbend.viebit.com and on cable channel #987. On demand video recordings will also be uploaded the following day after each meeting.

Common Council and Plan Commission meetings will take place virtually until further notice.
