West Bend, Wis. (October 26, 2020): We Energies Foundation has committed $25,000 in grant funding to support the west side of the City of West Bend’s Downtown Riverwalk Project, including the design and construction of new river walls, concrete pathways, step access to the river, overlooks, landscaping, railings, and lighting.
“We are making this contribution because we believe that together, we can create a brighter future for the communities we serve,” said Beth Straka, Vice President of the We Energies Foundation and Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Investor Relations at WEC Energy Group, the holding company of We Energies.
“Our sincerest thanks goes to We Energies Foundation for its financial support of the Riverwalk Project,” said Jay Shambeau, City Administrator. “In addition to the grant funding, We Energies is a collaborative partner on this complex project and an asset to our community with its service center location and beloved Christmas cookie books.”
Utility work for the west side of the Riverwalk began in October 2020. Construction is tentatively scheduled to start in spring of 2021 from the Veterans Avenue Bridge north to Vest Pocket Park Bridge.
